Knotty Sequoia Mantel

Giant Sequoia, Sequoiadendron giganteum, is the most massive tree on earth. It grows naturally in a very small area of California that ranges 260 miles by 15 miles wide in the Sierra Nevadas. All of the Sequoia that we cut is from trees that were planted in cities and houses. None of the wood is from the wild forests. Sequoia is light and cuts easily. Colors are hues of pink/red and purple and the sapwood is a clear white. This piece has checks in most of the sound knots and has two machine marks on the live edge. We could hand profile the machine marks out for $50,This piece would make a good countertop or bartop!
